Casino de Monte-Carlo
Opened in 1863, the Belle Époque casino is the touristic and economic heart of the Principality — the Grand Prix's "Casino Square" corner runs right past it, though the casino keeps its regular hours during the race.
Monaco Grand Prix
Raced through the streets of Monte-Carlo since 1929, it's one of Formula 1's most prestigious and demanding events — a tight, twisting circuit where overtaking is famously difficult. Held every year in late May/early June.
Getting around
No airport, but 7 minutes by helicopter from Nice
Monaco has no airport of its own: the nearest air access is Nice Côte d'Azur, roughly 20-30 minutes by road, or the Fontvieille heliport — the helicopter shuttle (Monacair, Heli Air Monaco) takes about 7 minutes from Nice, one of the most spectacular arrivals in Europe. Monaco also has its own train station (French SNCF regional line). Once there, everything is walkable thanks to a network of free public elevators and escalators built into the hillside, plus a compact local bus network.
