Not every journey begins with exact dates and a fixed destination. Some travellers already know exactly where they are going. Others have a maximum budget but are flexible about the destination. Some find an interesting route but would rather keep watching the fare before making a decision. SniperAir supports each of these situations.

How SniperAir analyses flight prices

A fare makes more sense when it has context

A flight priced at €250 may look attractive, but the number alone does not tell the whole story. On one route, €250 may be fairly typical. On another, the same amount could represent a significant difference compared with fares observed previously.

SniperAir therefore looks beyond the latest fare alone. Our systems retain fare observations across monitored routes so that newer prices can be viewed alongside the historical information available for that route. When enough relevant information is available, changes in price can be interpreted in context and may contribute to identifying an opportunity worth highlighting.

We do not publish the detailed internal rules, technical thresholds or classification methods used by our systems. The principle, however, is straightforward: give a fare context instead of treating every isolated number as a deal.

The usual price

What does a "usual price" mean on SniperAir?

When SniperAir displays a detected fare alongside historical price information, that reference comes from observations available for the relevant route and period. It is intended to help travellers understand how the detected price compares with fares seen previously. It is not a prediction and it does not guarantee what the same flight will cost tomorrow.

Airfares can move quickly because of seat availability, travel dates, demand, fare classes, airline pricing decisions and other factors. An offer detected by SniperAir may therefore rise in price, disappear or no longer be available by the time you reach the partner website. That is why the time or date of detection matters, and why the price shown by the booking partner remains the final reference before purchase.

Opportunity detection

How is a flight opportunity identified?

SniperAir regularly processes new fare observations across the routes followed by the platform. A low-looking number is not automatically treated as a travel deal. Where sufficient historical information exists, the newly observed fare can be considered alongside previous observations for that route.

This prevents the platform from drawing strong conclusions from a route for which there is not yet enough meaningful information. Rather than applying one universal rule to every flight, SniperAir aims to interpret prices using the context available for the individual route. The detailed calculations remain part of our internal technology.

Price alerts

How do SniperAir price alerts work?

A price alert is designed for travellers who do not want to perform the same search again and again. When setting up an alert profile, you choose the travel criteria that matter to you. Depending on the options available, these can include one or more departure airports, a maximum budget and a specific destination.

If you prefer to keep your options open, you can also use a flexible destination approach rather than limiting the monitoring to one city. SniperAir then continues following the relevant routes. When a fare matching the necessary criteria for your profile is detected, an alert can be sent to you. You remain in control of your alert profiles and notification preferences.

Why fares move

Why do flight prices change so much?

A flight ticket rarely has one price that remains unchanged for months. Available fare classes can sell out, demand can increase or fall, airlines may adjust inventory and travel periods can strongly affect what is available. The same route can therefore appear at very different prices depending on when you search and the dates you choose.

This is why a flight search and price monitoring serve two different purposes. A search shows what can be found now. Monitoring helps you follow what happens over time. SniperAir brings both approaches into the same travel experience.

What happens when SniperAir finds an interesting flight?

SniperAir is not an airline and does not issue or sell the flight tickets displayed through the platform. When you select an offer, you are redirected to the relevant partner, where you can review the final booking information and continue with the purchase.

Before paying, always check the details shown by the partner, including travel dates, departure and arrival airports, flight times, baggage allowance, connections, fare conditions, cancellation or modification rules and the final total price. The price shown by SniperAir reflects the information available when the fare was searched or detected. Because fares and availability can change, the price confirmed by the partner at the time of booking is the final reference.

After the flight

What happens after you choose your destination?

Finding the flight is only part of planning a journey. SniperAir destination pages can also help you explore what to do after arrival. Depending on the destination and current partner availability, you may find guided tours, attraction tickets, museum and monument visits, day trips, sightseeing cruises, water activities, safaris, food tours and other local experiences.

The activities shown vary from one destination to another. As with flights, SniperAir helps you discover and access these offers but does not operate the activity itself. The final booking is completed with the partner providing the selected experience.

Surprise Mode

A different way to search: when your budget matters more than the destination

A conventional flight search usually starts with a route: Paris to Bangkok, Brussels to Tunis, Berlin to New York. But travellers do not always think that way. Sometimes you simply know that you want to get away, you have a budget in mind and you are open to wherever makes sense.

Surprise Mode turns the usual process around. Start with your departure point and travel criteria, then explore destinations that may fit the possibilities available to you. It is particularly useful for flexible trips, spontaneous breaks and travellers who would rather discover an opportunity first and choose the destination second.

Search or alert

Flight search or price alert: what is the difference?

Flight search is useful when you want to see offers for a journey now. A price alert is useful when you want to keep following a route over time without repeating the same search manually. The two functions complement each other.

You can search for a flight without creating an alert. You can also search, decide that the current prices do not yet fit your budget and then create an alert to continue monitoring the route. And when the destination itself is still open, Surprise Mode offers another way to explore your options.
