Getting around
The north by train, the south by domestic flight
SNTF trains connect Algiers to Oran (about 4h38), Béjaïa, Constantine and Annaba, with comfortable air-conditioned trains on the main corridor. Algiers–Oran covers about 432 km, Algiers–Constantine about 400 km by road. For the Sahara (Djanet, Tamanrasset, Ghardaïa), domestic flights via Air Algérie (around 33 domestic destinations) are the norm — distances and limited infrastructure make road travel impractical. City taxis are inexpensive in every major town.
