Saskatoon, the City of Bridges on the South Saskatchewan

Saskatchewan's largest city sits on a bend of the South Saskatchewan River and has collected nicknames: the Paris of the Prairies, the City of Bridges for its nine river crossings, and Hub City. It is a university town that mixes pioneer heritage with a lively contemporary arts scene, with a metro area of roughly 317,000 people.

Another nickname, POW City, stands for potash, oil and wheat. The city is the headquarters of Nutrien, the world's largest potash producer, and of Cameco, the largest publicly traded uranium company.

Today it hosts festivals including the Fringe Theatre Festival and Jazz Fest in summer, and a Cruise Weekend in late August with more than 800 mostly 1960s cars. TCU Place and SaskTel Centre host concerts and shows.
