The Distillery District occupies the former Gooderham and Worts distillery, founded in 1832, whose last operations ended in 1990. Toronto Pearson, in Mississauga, is Canada's largest and busiest airport, with about 47 million passengers in 2025 (Wikipedia). It lies about 20 km (12 miles) northwest of downtown; Wikivoyage gives 30 to 50 minutes by car depending on traffic. Many airlines, including Air Canada, Air France, Lufthansa, KLM, British Airways and Air Transat, connect it with Europe.

Getting around
Subway, streetcars, PATH and regional trains
The TTC (Toronto Transit Commission) runs the subway, streetcars and buses; Line 1 serves Union Station, which is also the hub of GO regional trains. Children aged 12 and under ride free. The PATH. Born in 1900 as a tunnel dug by the Eaton's department store, the PATH now stretches about 30 km of climate-controlled underground passages, linking more than 50 buildings by some counts and five subway stations (Wikipedia). It is a real asset in winter, when it lets you cross part of downtown without going outside.
Streetcars and walking. Downtown is easy to walk; streetcars accept only Presto or exact change (German Wikivoyage). For Niagara or neighbouring towns, trains and buses link Union Station and the GO terminal.

A fairly high budget by Canadian standards
Toronto is among the most expensive cities in Canada for accommodation and dining, especially downtown and in summer.
